Te Reo Māori

  1. Think about the qualities shown by Huria Matenga in the story.
  2. Choose one of those qualities.
  3. Find the word for that quality in te reo Māori.
  4. Think about the people in your life or someone that you have read about or heard about who also demonstrates that quality.
  5. Write a paragraph (or two) explaining why you think that quality is important. Use at least four te reo Māori words in your explanation.
I have chosen bravery for one of Huria Metengas quality’s.

I think being brave is very important because in tough Situations you have to act mature and brave so other people don't freak out  and  worry..I also think māia ( to be brave, bold, capable, confident) is a gift because in a situations where you have to be māia ( brave) there will always be another emotion trying to fight( kakari) your bravery.

Meteorology Badge

For Badge Meteorology Badge we had to Explain how two of the following occur: a tornado, a hurricane, monsoon rains

Meteorology badge

For the Meteorology badge we had to Explain how rain/ua,  hail/ and snow are formed.

Meteorology Badge

For the Meteorology badge we had to Learn about the look/appearance and names of the 10 major cloud formations. Take your own photographs to show at least five different types of cloud and name these.

What are some Major cloud forms?
Clouds can be divided into 3 major groups ; low clouds that are below 6, 500 feet, Mid clouds 6,500- 20,00 and high clouds they are clouds that are above 20000 feet.Culmus clouds are fluffy and small and occur and they can grow in much lager cloud formations .A cumulonimbus cloud covers all three categories. There is another cloud called stratgocumlois cloud. They are the shape of honey cones. They occur in patches where you can see the sky between them. Another cloud is an altocumous cloud  that has grey pathces. Another cloud is a ninbostrartis cloud which are also known as continuous rain clouds; they are dark and grey filled with falling water or snow and thick enough to block out the sun. Another cloud form is called cirrous; they are high level clouds . When they cross the sun's disk they hardly dismiss it's brightness. They are yellow or red at sunrise or sunset. cirrocumulus clouds are also high level clouds . Fog is a type of stratus cloud that appears very close to the surface of the ground. Stratocumulus clouds couse rolls or ripples in the sky. Cirrostratus Are transparent clouds that cover long distances of the sky.

Meteorology Badge

For the Meteorology badge we had to Make a simple barometer and use it to check its reading. Explain what a barometer does.

Meteorology Badge

Foe the Meteorology badge we had to Write a sestina (six line, six words per line) poem on any of the following:
rain/ua,   sunshine/mahana,    cloud/kapua.

What happens when it rains
Trees gently shake as rain pours.
Wet, frizzy hair is what I get.
Tāwhirimātea loudly bangs on his drum.
Sunshine is sneakily hiding behind Tāwhirimātea.
Animals hides are coldly dripping wet.
People find board games to play.

E-Racing

New Zealand's lengthy list of motorsport stars are coming together, launching a new virtual series to help  raise money for small businesses over lockdown.
Brendon Hartley made a call 6 weeks ago that he is leaving his home in Monaco  and returning to new zealand with his wife. Hartley is a two-time le mans  winner and ex Formula One driver .
Hartley and 25 of New Zealand's best drivers will come together tomorrow night to compete against each other. The series will decide New Zealand's best all-round driver, in a virtual sense . The series, named "Racing Local" will see Brendon Hartly up against   Le Mans teammate Earl Bamber, Supercars duo Scott McLaughlin and Shane van Gisbergen, legend Greg Murphy, Formula E's Mitch Evans, rising duo Marcus Armstrong (Formula 2) and Liam Lawson (Formula 3) and others.
The series will go for over four weeks.
The virtual switch isn't proving as easy for the group.
"I think the main thing is us giving back to these local small businesses that so many of us have relied on over the years," Hartley tells 1 NEWS.

Technogly

We are learning to:
Develop ideas by developing and revisiting visual ideas, in response to examples we have seen, and ideas that we can think of for ourselves.

Learning Challenge: Create an artwork in any way you prefer (painting, drawing, building, sewing,  soap carving!) of something you think is Kiwiana… it could be something other artists have identified or something that is an original idea of your own.
