Rocky Shore
On a hot Monday morning the bell rung and suddenly we ran to the class, ready for the rocky shore. Don and Lauren from D.O.C. were there ready to teach us about the rocky shore . We saw skeletons of Seals and other marine creatures and we learnt how the tides work.
Ater the talk, we went to our car groups and went out to 14 Mile. I was traveling with Cathy. When we got there we got out of the car and we had a talk about the rubbish on the beach. Then we went over to the rock pools and started to eat lunch. We walked along the beach with the beautiful sound of the waves crashing on the rocks!
After I ate loads of popcorn, we got into our groups and looked for creatures to tick off on our worksheets. We found a common tipple fin and loads of Reef stars. After that we started our booklets. We had a rock pool we had to work at. We filled our sheets out (our sheets were about collecting data and measuring the temperature of the rock pools) then went exploring. We had to be careful not to fall in the rock pools and not to step on the creatures. In one rock we were working at we saw a Cling fish that was there the whole time. We tried to catch it but it was too fast! Clingfish are very good at camouflaging and can change colour very fast.
Then we walked back to the cars picking up rubbish on the way. In the end it was great fun and I would love to do it again.
